The Department of Distributed and Dependable Systems (D3S), Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, invites applications for a postdoctoral research positions in the area of software architectures for dependable and trustworthy systems with strong focus on utilizing and applying AI.

Research focus
The successful candidate will conduct research in one or more of the following areas:
- AI-assisted design of distributed and cyber-physical systems
- Dependable and resilient AI-based system architectures
- Trustworthy and explainable AI for embedded or resource-constrained systems
- Data collection, processing, minimisation, anonymisation, and benchmarking for AI-enabled systems
- Edge-AI and AI in low-power embedded computing
- Verification, validation, and evaluation of complex system stacks
The position offers the opportunity to work in a strong international research environment, collaborate with leading European academic and industrial partners, and contribute to high-impact scientific publications.
Requirements
- PhD (completed or close to completion) in Computer Science, or a closely related field
- Strong background in at least one of the research areas listed above
- Proven ability to publish in high-quality international conferences and journals
- Experience with experimental research, prototyping, or system-level evaluation is an advantage
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in an international research team

Funding Tiers
We currently offer two possible funding tiers: (1) through CHARLESTON MSCA Cofund, (2) through local sources and departmental projects. Funding through CHARLESTON is more generous, though more competitive as the program is university-wide and includes candidates applying to different faculties. Funding through the local sources and departmental projects is more flexible with respect to the date of the application. We prefer that candidates first apply through CHARLESTON. Candidates who are not selected or do not qualify for the CHARLESTON program will be considered for positions funded through departmental projects and other funding sources.

Please note that the CHARLESTON program requires the candidate to contact the potential supervisor and to come up with a research proposal. This needs to be aligned with our projects and research directions. Please contact us in advance so that there is enough time to properly shape your research proposal.
